The "Ancient Chinese Village Award" is a bi-annual event supported by UNESCO and hosted by the China Society of Territorial Economists. Starting from 2006, the event aims to promote ancient Chinese villages and raise public awareness on preservation of the natural and cultural aspects of these villages.
The "2nd Chinese Ancient Village Award" was held in Yingtan Village, Xingtai County, Hebei Province on April 16. After over six months of research, a total of 16 villages were on the awards list. The awards ceremony will be held in Beijing in early December with those from academic, political, and media circles in attendance.
Here are the 16 ancient Chinese villages chosen in the second round through voting:
No. 1 Yingtan Village, Luluo Town, Xingtai County, Hebei Province
No. 2 Furong Village, Yantou Town, Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province
