An airport built for the Olympics held in 2008. The main terminal building has a floor area of 1.3 million square meters - most of it under one roof. An estimated 50 millions passengers a year passes through the airport.
An architectural model of building which is almost 4 km long. An automate people mover (APM) carries passengers around the terminal at speed of 80 kph.
During construction 50,000people worked on the site. Lord Foster, whose company designed it, said the building "moves the dialogue between scale and clarity to another level".
The terminal was commissioned, designed and built in just four years - less time than it took to conduct the public inquiry into terminal 5 at Heathrow.
